For 2012, a total of 22 elementary, middle school and high school students from across Missouri have been awarded prizes in the competition. As a reward for their work, they’ll get a chance to perform their winning compositions at the 2012 Creating Original Music Project Festival.

The Children’s Education Alliance of Missouri (CEAM) held its second-annual Passport to Education Gala Celebration Sat., Mar. 31, at the Xavier Ballroom in St. Francis Xavier College Church.

This past Sunday, nearly 1,400 attendees witnessed the enshrinement of 15 great men and women, two teams, and one hospital into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. Achievement Awards were also given to 16 men, women, and sports programs for their contributions to Missouri sports. This included an award presented to Dr. Jeanne Sinquefield for her crucial role in establishing the Boy Scout Merit Badge for Chess.

With the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of St. Louis and the World Chess Hall of Fame, Rex Sinquefield is making St. Louis the Chess Capital of the World. The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame honored Rex this week by announcing his induction into the Hall.

The University of Missouri School of Music and the Mizzou New Music Initiative are pleased to announce that Michael E. Anderson is the winner of the 2012 Sinquefield Composition Prize.

Bridget Brennan, executive director of local non-profit agency St. Louis Healthy Families, was honored by FOCUS St. Louis.

The University of Missouri School of Music today announced that 28 elementary, middle school and high school students from across Missouri have been awarded prizes in the sixth annual Creating Original Music Project (C.O.M.P.) competition.

A new providing scholarship aid for special needs students and coping skills for their parents was created by the Children’s Education Alliance of Missouri to make the process a little less difficult for local families.

Hundreds of donors generously contributed at a Dec. 9 benefit hosted by local philanthropists Jeanne & Rex Sinquefield; Rachel & Travis Brown of Pelopidas LLC; & Laura Slay of Slay & Associates. The amount raised was nearly 50 percent higher than any other year.
